Just a month ago now, we were finalizing the details of what was to be our weekend of celebration in style of 10 YEARS OF FIERRO. A celebration that marked a turning point. It was much more than an anniversary: it was a vindication of a decade, of memory and vision for the future. An “emotional volcano” that meant for Carito and Germán to look back, remember the origins, each story behind the dishes and reinterpret with all its authenticity emblematic dishes that have marked with history a before and after this era of FIERRO.
A cocktail in the heart of Valencia
The first part of the celebration began at Hotel INNSiDE by Meliá Valencia Oceaniclocated next to the Oceanogràfic and renowned for its commitment to Valencian culture and art, with a very special cocktail that brought together some of the most representative bites of all the group’s venues: Doña Petrona, Maipi, La Oficina de Carito y Germán.

La Albufera: tradition, emotion and future
The following day, the celebration moved to our beloved Albufera of Valencia, reaching its most emotional moment. The day began with a talk by Santos Ruiz, director of the D.O. Arroz de Valencia, who emphasized the importance of rice cultivation and Valencian gastronomic culture: “Rice is the most important crop in Valencia.He highlighted the importance of rice cultivation and the Valencian gastronomic culture: “For Valencians rice is much more than an economic activity, for us it is a symbol of identity and flag, a reference of our culture”.
A boat ride took the guests to a traditional hut, where one of the most special events of the anniversary took place.
The event was attended by the institutional presence of Paula Llobet, Councilor for Culture and Innovation of the City of Valencia, and Tono Franco, director of Visit Valenciaas well as renowned professionals from the sector.
Paula Llobet had some beautiful and emotional words for the chefs whom she congratulated for these 10 years: It is a source of pride for the city of Valencia that you have bet on the city of Valencia and that you have wanted to grow here”, “We have experienced moments of professional success and also of great need. We have lived moments of professional success and also of great need and I have to say that the first person in the sector with whom I spoke the day after the DANA was Carito who made himself available to the districts and all the municipalities affected to see how he could support us and that same night he had 300 sandwiches to distribute and from there it was a frantic work”. “People like them, who gave their all from the very first moment, are appreciated. “.
The culmination was a paella prepared by the world-renowned master chef and friend of the chefs: Vicente Rioja, from the Rioja restaurant in Benissanó.and recent author of a book dedicated to rice “The great book (secret) of the PAELLA”, which paid tribute to the cuisine of the land and closed the celebration with a gesture of respect for tradition.
The success of the celebrations would not have been possible without synergies with producers, suppliers and friends who, together with Carito and Germán, believe in gastronomy as a cultural engine: D.O Arroz Valencia, Estrella Galicia, Celler del Roure and Visit Valencia..
